Fall Top Ten

5.) "Fall is here! List your top 10 favorite things about this Fall season."
_______________________________________________________________

Top ten reasons that fall rocks:

  1. It's my birthday! All month. Because I said so.
  2. No more shorts. Need we say more?
  3. Good Hair Days, or at least Better Hair Days.
  4. Soup season. Accompanied by Bread Season.
  5. Fallen leaves camouflage all the dead grass in the yard.
  6. Farewell mosquitoes.
  7. The smell of freshly sharpened #2 pencils.
  8. Soccer moms' social hour. (Party on the fields: every Tuesday at 5:30 during practice, and again on Saturdays at the games.)
  9. Socks muffle the crunch of stray cookie crumbs underfoot in the kitchen. Plus they insulate your feet from the pointiest bits.
  10. Apple picking. Followed by apple pie. And apple cake. And apple turnovers. And applesauce. And apple scones. And apple crumble. And apple brown betty. And apple pancakes. And Apple Blythe Alison Martin (who?)

Apple recipes coming soon. Stay tuned...

  1. I agree on all these, especially the soup. I love homemade soup for lunch and dinner and it just isn't that appetizing in the heat of summer.

  2. Oh yes... apples! I love them too and can't wait for apple crisp, among many others. I have a cookbook solely dedicated to apples. And a daughter recently asked for apple crisp for a birthday cake. It was one of her favorite dishes growing up. That made me feel like a good mom!

  4. Two days till the big day, but I hope you have an awesome month and year, too! I'd like to add: memories of a two-headed monster and stashing Halloween candy in a suitcase in the closet till (or even past?) Valentine's Day!
